How To Stop Carpenter Ants From Growing Inside Your Home

A carpenter ant sometimes referred to as a flying ant is a member of the family of insects. Carpenter ants live in large groups, scouts, and a queen. They can be found in wooded areas and cities. They are one of the largest and most common ant species in Florida.

Destroy that retreat. Once you establish a retreat indoors, apply pesticide powder by drilling holes into the wall where the nest is assumed and inject the powder. You may have to repeat the treatment at various events. If the nest is outside, it is with a sprayer of quick pesticide.

If you can’t find the retreat or it is difficult to access, place slow-acting granular bait tamper-resistant bait stations if you have children or pets near insertion limits and moistened cities where ants are expected to assume. You can also spray foam or gel attractions into, within nail holes into resistance, around breaks in plumbing, and into ant tubes themselves. Ants will expectedly bring the attraction back to the nest and kill the entire group, queen and all.

Carpenter ants are big related to other ants, but they’re but ants and consequently can easily enter your home within structure joints, holes in the post, or holes under doors. To avoid the annoyance and risk of eliminating an infestation of carpenter ants, take the following steps to control them from building a retreat in or around your home.

  • Keep food in sealed containers and clean up spills and scraps

  • Seal holes and cracks

  • Trim plants back from the house

  • Remove rotted or filled wood

  • Raise cordwood off the ground

  • Spray a chemical or non-toxic pesticide check throughout your home
